Barbie toys are still very popular despite the negative press over the years. What's great about these toys is that kids can use their imagination and role play with their friends. It's a great way to help develop a child's social and creative skills.
I was a big fan of Barbie growing up in the seventies and I remember getting the camper one year for Christmas as a gift. If memory serves me, it was orange in color and had funky looking flowers on it - a little like the Mystery Machine on Scooby Doo. I spent many happy hours playing with Barbie, Ken, that camper and my friends. Did this experience distort my image of myself? I'm not sure that it did. I think my distorted body image had more to do with being teased and tormented by my older brother as we were growing up. This updated version of the camper has some new features but first let’s talk about the old features. I do recall that the original camper had a pop out tent – the same goes for the updated version. In addition, there were some plastic accessories such as a little dog, a table and some chairs. The update includes a fold out kitchen and bathroom. But, the coolest part is that this toy is that it comes with sound.
